Amber Fort Jaipur

Amber Fort, also known as Amer Fort is one of the best tourist destinations not just in Jaipur City but the whole of Rajasthan. Amer and the Jaigarh Fort are regarded as a single structure and a subterranean passage connects the two forts. It is believed that the passage was used to escape at times of war or enemy attacks. It is located on Cheel Ka Teela on Aravalli hills. The fort was built by Raja Man Singh I, one of the Navratnas of Emperor Akbar. Later, expansions were undertaken by the successive rulers. With its amazing architecture that combines Mughal and Hindu styles, the fort built in red sandstone and marble, is a sight to watch and walk through with its high ramparts, many gates, cobbled paths and splendid view. The Maota Lake looks splendid from the fort.

Nahargarh Fort Jaipur

Nahargarh fort, standing tall amidst the Aravalli range, is the pride of the city of Jaipur. Along with Amber Fort and Jaigarh fort, Nahargarh acted as a defensive circle to guard the city of Jaipur. The fort was formerly built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734, seven years after he built the city of Jaipur. The fort was primarily built as a summer retreat for the royal king. It was one of the first of the three forts built by the Maharaja. The fort is connected to Jaigarh Fort through a huge wall. In 1868, Nahargarh fort was extended by Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh. Later in 1880, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh, gave the responsibility to Raj Imarat, who was responsible for undertaking royal construction projects for converting the fort into a monsoon retreat. He told them to design a palace inside the fort that would serve as a small getaway destination.

Located 2.7km away from the fort, Jantar Mantar is one of the five astronomical observatories in western central India. Other places worth visiting nearby are the City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jalmahal, Jaigarh Fort and Amer Fort. Located in a scenic backdrop of the Aravalli Hills, Nahargarh Fort offers a breathtaking view of the hilly milieu.
